about

urban eco

URBANECo’s first project was to create a residential development which embraced habitats for native species and wildlife. Situated on a rocky South African peninsula, settled above a dramatic coastal area, the site offered breathtaking vistas of the Tsitsikamma mountains.

South Africans possess a distinct approach to construction and design. While their architectural choices are influenced by a blend of diverse traditions and styles, they’re also innovators and change-makers who value people, wildlife and our planet and who collectively regenerate and restore ecological balance to the places we live.

Living and working in Plettenberg Bay significantly shaped Sam’s design aesthetic and principles. Part of the practice’s ethos is establishing relationships with local craftsmen, countryside artisans & specialist textile designers to create unique interior designs for her clients. Sam’s approach to sustainability and design is graceful and distinctive. She sources furniture from classic modern to cool antique pieces which expand to all facets of the home and the art of living. Sam has developed an extensive knowledge base and a refined methodology that allows her to appraise how hard to push to ensure a successful planning result, unlocking the maximum potential.

Sam’s designs have been featured in publications such as Vogue Arts and Lifestyle, GQ, Elle Decor and The Evening Standard Magazine
